THE CHALLENGE

To row, unsupported, 3,600 miles from Geraldton, Western Australia to Port Louis, Mauritius. Once the Ocean Sheroes leave Western Australia they will be on their own, at the mercy of the elements and vast open ocean.

Fewer women have
rowed the Indian Ocean
than men have walked
the surface of the moon.

THE FACTS

More people have been
to space (566 people).

5_edited.jpg

More people have climbed
Mount Everest (6,338 people).

So far, 36 teams have

attempted to row the

Indian Ocean.

Only 15 of these have

been successful.

To date, 44 rowers have

The Indian Ocean is the hardest

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO ROW AN OCEAN?

  • WILLPOWER

We row 2 hours on, 2 hours off. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Eat. Sleep. Row. Repeat.

  • FORWARD PLANNING

Everything we need must be packed and on board: including all food, medical supplies, water purifiers, solar panels, in addition to all boat maintenance and repair equipment.

  • NAVIGATION SKILLS

Staying on course is key, particularly when heading to a tiny island!

  • GRIT

We endure salt sores, blisters, heat exhaustion, muscle fatigue, dehydration, hallucinations and extreme sleep deprivation.

  • DISCIPLINE

4500 calories per day puts enough fuel in the tank.

  • MENTAL FORTITUDE

Oceans are a vast expanse and feelings of isolation can be daunting.

  • ENDURANCE

Potential threats can include container collisions, extreme weather conditions, complications from marine life and other traffic, in addition to the inevitability of crew sickness and injuries.

THE

PURPOSE

We’re rowing the Indian Ocean to raise awareness for The Sheroes Foundation, a Social Impact Charity set to create more inspiring and relatable female role models for one and all.

We share the belief that with the right mindset, anything is possible.

THE
MISSION

We are a passionate and ambitious team of women who have rowed oceans to prove that you don’t have to be a superhuman or a professional athlete to break boundaries.

We want to drive change through the power of storytelling and the strength of community spirit.

THE
DREAM

We want to change the way people perceive their own potential and inspire them to push it to the next level.

With a positive mindset and community support, anyone can be a Hero.
